I found this silver pitcher at a local thrift store for $3.93.
It's a little more modern than I normally go for, but it was nicely tarnished and a fairly heavyweight piece, so I scooped it up.
I thought it would make a nice vase.
I bought this blue bird (blue jay?) planter at another thrift store for $1.91.
It was made by Caffco.
I had never heard of Caffco before, but when I researched them I learned that it is a Montgomery, Alabama company that has been in business for 50+ years.
Not sure of its age, but it looks vintage.
Since it's a planter, I went to the Dollar Tree store
and bought one of their faux greenery pots. For $1.00. Because it is the Dollar Tree after all.
He looks pretty chipper considering he has a bush growing out of his back!

ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Love the blue jay. Have a great Sunday, Vicky
ReplyDeleteHi Pam- I don't normally go for modern silver either but I really like the shape of this piece. It is classy looking, don't you think? I'll bet that bird planter is older..50's maybe? It reminds me of that era. I had to laugh at the $1. When my kids were younger they would go up to the clerk with every item and ask her how much it was....until she would get annoyed and tell them...Don't you understand? EVERYTHING IN HERE is $1!!! xxooo Diana
ReplyDeleteWe used to have tons of blue jays in our neighborhood. I rarely see them now.
ReplyDeleteThe pitcher looks fantastic on your dining table.
Love that pitcher Pam. I would use it as a vase too. That little blue jay is cute too. Last time I was pregnant someone gave me a cute vintage bunny planter like that and filled it with baby q-tips...I thought that was pretty clever :)
ReplyDeleteCute bird!! Great finds!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds weird but it seems like you can tell things are vintage by the flowers on them. They just look different. Looks like Spring in your house. I would have snatched that pitcher up, too.
