I know I've said before that I was doing a more scaled back Christmas and I really am. I did not put up 1/2 of my normal Christmas decor. I did not put up the dining room tree with all my Grandmother's vintage ornaments on it. It didn't decorate my banister with oodles of greenery. I didn't decorate my basement family room at all. I tried to just plop down some Christmas items in among my normal decor, instead of totally redecorating the entire house.
Looking around my house I have a sense of calm now, rather than the nagging thought in the back of my mind telling me that "Pam, you have to put all this crap away after Christmas!!!". I think I can easily put this stuff away, with the exception of the tree, within a few hours.
What was that? Oh, that was a sigh of relief that you just heard coming from central Ohio.
So, here are some photos of my trimmed down Christmas trimmings.
I trimmed down too this year! I share your same feelings. Even my husband commented that I didn't seem as stressed this year!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorations have such a lovely, vintage feel. Everything looks great!
Pam,
ReplyDeleteLove that cute little vintage truck. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Blessings,
Linda
Everything looks lovely! I, too, have simplified my decorating now that the girls are grown and have their own homes. I used to jokingly tell my mother that the older she gets, the smaller her tree is, and now I know why!
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about some vintage collanders I bought until I saw yours! Thanks for the reminder! And I've searched everywhere for those chunky candy canes with no luck. Maybe next year.
Merry Christmas!!!! vickie
I hear you. I hear you about toning it down. I'm already worried about putting it all away. My knee gave way and I can't walk, so it'll be a while. LOVE all your Vintage Santas. But I'm crazy about the old truck with a stash of bottle brush trees in the back. I want Santa to bring me one. LOL MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI trimmed down too...but it is still a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love the truck with the little trees...adorable. I need to find a truck!
Merry Christmas!
I'm totally smitten with your bottle brush wreath and candy cane filled truck. Less really is "more". Love everything, Pam.
ReplyDeleteChristmas hugs!
You home looks very festive. Your collection of vintage christmas items is amazing. Love the wreath with the candle. it's so sweet.
ReplyDeleteMy kind of Christmas. That looks like no fuss at all. Good Job!
ReplyDeletem.
Your decorations are perfection!! I would love to be spending Christmas at your house. :) Happy Holidays and Blessed Be!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the idea of a scaled back CHRISTmas -- so much in fact, that we've done a scaled back CHRISTmas the last few years. When I put it all away this year, I plan to box up and take to Goodwill some of the excess. That will feel good :)
ReplyDeleteMerry CHRISTmas!
Gail
Your home looks beautiful, Pam! Your decorations are lovely! I am really enjoying a scaled back Christmas this year, too!
ReplyDeleteIt is all so pretty and I think trimming down is a good thing. I did a little less this year. Still looking at it all makes me happy. hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteI have done the same thing this year and there is such a calm in it! Love all your fun things you did use!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Good for you Pam. I too put 50% less ornies on our tree. That truck looks so awesome I see it as a Christmas card Pam.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Pam. I've noticed how less stressful it is with less decorations around. This year I seem to enjoy my home more. Your decorations are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Pam, love the little tinsel tree! Just do what brings you pleasure, everything else is just work-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeletePam, it all looks great. I trimmed down too, half od my stuff is still in rubbermaid containers. I hope you have a great Christmas!

You might not believe me if you walked in my house, but I trimmed back too this year. I host a big family get together each year and I decorate all out for them. But this year, not so much, and I have already started taking some things down here and there. I store things in drawers and closets near where I decorate with them, so it's a bit easier to restore them. I'm dreading the tree break down, but other than that I'm cool.
ReplyDeleteI love that Christmas plate!!
Merry Christmas, Pam!
Everything looks beautiful! And is that a "smoking" Snowman with the umbrella? LOVE him! Have a wonderful holiday, Pam.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas,
Gloria
You make me laugh out loud. I did less this year too. I love the thought of being able to put it all away in a matter of hours instead of days. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, I feel the same way! And I have found out, mixing simple christmas items in with what you have can be beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteHave a very Merry Christmas!
Love the tree in the suitcase! For some reason, I have been in an extra festive mood this Christmas and put up alot of decorations, mostly vintage. I also did some Christmas crafts which I love. I just decided do what I want to do, not stress, and just have fun and mostly did. The house is a mess, but most importantly, I'm having fun. Everything is beautiful at your house - thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh what joy I felt here trackin' though your trimmed down Christmas! It looks so very warm and invitin' sweetie.
ReplyDeleteI fear my eight grandkiddos would conspire to hang me from the lowest branch if I tried to 'scale' it down a notch or two yet. Shhhhh, don't tell 'em but they think I'm still a youngen too!!! Heeeheeheh!
God bless ya sweetie and have yourself a beautifully bright Christmas surrounded by the ones ya love!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS YA'LL!!! :o)
Everything looks gorgeous!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteJane
