A New Porch Guest

We have a new squatter on our front porch. Nope, no more birds. A cat this time.

I saw him walking around out in the corn field a few days ago, but when I got close to him, he ran away. Then last night I happened to look out onto the porch and he was curled up in a ball, sleeping. Like he owned the place.

I got him a big bowl of food and low and behold, he was still hanging around today. Strange how that worked out.

BTW, when I say "him", I am guessing. I've not actually gotten close enough to determine its sexual identity. I found a dead mole sitting not too far from him, so I just assume a dainty girl wouldn't have ripped its head off.

So now, I have to try and find its owner. I've contacted two vet offices and checked out the bulletin boards at the grocery store. Next up is to check with the crazy cat lady on the other side of the railroad tracks to see if she knows where Frank lives.

Yes, I named him. Is that a bad sign?

On non-cat related news, there are some killer yard sales happening this weekend, and I am going to try to get to some tomorrow morning before the heat wave hits full peak. Stay cool and have a productive thrifting weekend!

  2. Wonder who he belongs to. You don't see stray Siamese cats very often. He looks pretty tame except for running off when you get near. Good luck. I will be anxious to hear if he stays. Have fun junking......hope the heat is kind to you.

  4. Frank is worth every penny if he kills moles. I don't usually like siamese cats...but he is beautiful!

  5. What a lovely kitty ! I'm guessing he may have been a drop-off, Pam, since most cats just won't leave a home where he's well fed. He looks like he hasn't missed many meals. If you don't find a home for him I hope you will contact the local no-kill shelter to take him in hopes to find a forever home. After a few more bowls of food (and if you sit nearby) I bet you'll soon have the foxy feline eating out of your hand. Mole-slayer Extraordinaire !!

  6. You know me--I love a post with a cat. He/she is really pretty--you wouldn't think it is a stray. I am so happy you are trying to find its home! If you don't find its home he/she looks nice sitting in front of your house:)

  9. Awwww....Frank is beautiful and very sweet looking. I do hope you either find his owners or adopt him as your own. - I am a "crazy cat lady" and would take him in a heartbeat if I could.

  10. I had a siamese cat growing up, and so I've always had a fondness for them. His name was "Pyewacit"!

It's my opinion that once a cat comes to live with you, you can't easily tell them to leave. They choose you!

  13. Beautiful addition to your front porch. You may have to change the name to Francesca, females are usually the better hunters. She'll keep snakes away too!

  20. What a pretty cat. I think it looks like a boy. Frank is a good name. However does that mean if you don't find its owner that you have now become home for the cat? Yay for yard sales-have to go to town tomorrow I'll be looking for some.

  22. I wonder if Frank has a chip in his/her ear? Most vets will scan for free. I am just like you -- hunting down the owner, calling around, posting signs because I know how I would feel if my old girl cat went missing. You're a good cat lady, Pam. Hope it provides you with some sales karma this weekend!

  23. OLD blue eyes. I ASSUME that is why you called him/her Frank. I hope you find it's home. Have fun yard sailing. Did it last weekend here. The bargains were everywhere. Take care.

  24. Oh, in my life, I've ran across some "dainty" girls who would do more than rip your head off.

  25. He's beautiful! I grew up with a Siamese, so I have a soft spot in my heart for them. He looks awfully happy there! :)

  26. If Mr Frank decides that he's a girl, you can just call her Frank LYNN. Hee hee! He looks a little scruffy, but he's obviously quite at home resting on your porch! He does look like a magnificent creature. Perhaps you have a new comrade!

  27. My mom named our favorite stray, Frank! He was the best cat we ever had and we always felt that he picked us. You should keep him if you cannot find his owner and it would even out the dog to cat ratio at your house...just saying :)

  28. TOTALLY a cat person and siamese are my favorites. Frank is sure a handsome fella. Sounds like he brought you a gift in that vole :)

    Blessings!

  30. Frank isn't just a good hunter, he's a beauty too! Look at those eyes. I think he's found a new home. Are you hoping so too? I had a Siamese cat while I was growing up and he was the sweetest thing and a really good hunter too :)

  31. I don't know. Looks like you might be his new mama. Meow.

  32. You get a cat roaming into your yard and I get a skunk and a raccoon! LOL Yikes- it's wild kingdom around here, or so it seems. I don't want either one of those creatures approaching me, especially Mr. Stinky! Your pretty/handsome cat friend- I'd keep. He/she is very attractive. If you want to do a tutorial for ASCP next month let me know. Kathy, Debby, and I are gonna get together with Jean. Let me know some dates that would work for you. :-)
