The Best Laid Plans Of Mice And Bloggers

This photo symbolizes my summer and blogging.

No, blogging has not made me take up drinking.

I bought these gorgeous blue beer bottles to make a bottle tree with. You know, one of those fun yard decor items.

And they aren't just for looks, you know. According to my extensive research on the subject (I Googled it once), the bottles were hung in trees to trap evil spirits who couldn't resist the lure of the pretty bottles, but also could not find their way back out. We've all been tempted by the bottle a time or two haven't we.

Totally not created by me - source

Just one of the many, many projects that I had planned to do this summer that just never got off the ground. It seemed like every time I was making inroads into doing a project that would knock your socks off, I got sidetracked by that little thing called life. But I guess that is what summer is about. Living life, having fun and drinking a few beers.

I currently have a kiddo with a sinus infection, double ear infection and pink eye. Yes, the triple whammy just in time for the upcoming holiday weekend. So you probably won't see me around these parts for a few days. Hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the rest of your summer (beer or no beer).

Why is my eye itching all of the sudden?

  5. I love those blue beer bottles! I hadn't seen those. I usually only drink micro brews but I will have to check those out. I do sometimes drink Blue Moon wine that comes in a similar bottle. Might look nice to mix up the different sizes of bottles.

Sorry that Max is sick--that sucks! Take care.

  6. Oh my goodness....I so laughed at the drinking...I had a friend once when under pressure wrote a note to his pastor saying...sorry I haven't been in church lately, I have been busy becoming an alcoholic...Not really but it cracks me up. You know, sometimes, blogging could send a person to the bottle...and what nice ones you have!!

  14. You might as well crack one open so you can get a jump start washing the bottles and removing the labels for your tree. Too bad you didn't live closer. We could go outside with flashlights tonight and dig up one of my next door neighbor's dead shrubs to use as your tree for the bottles. I wonder how much it would cost to ship them to you. :@

I hope your son has a quick recovery. And hopefully you aren't developing pink eye too!

  17. It's so hot and muggy here today I think that those bottle tree making supplies are looking really good. Haven't seen any bottle trees around my area, but I think they are so eye catching and pretty. I don't know if they are more of a backyard garden item or would one be good in my front side yard. I wonder how a mini sized one with small decorative colored bottles would look. Hope your son feels better soon and you don't catch it.

  18. I made a bottle tree awhile back...just used one of the post in my little birdhouse collection in the corner of my yard. I had it at first on a tree I thought was dead...it sprouted leaves so had to change things up. I've been wanting some blue bottles, but these kind never occurred to me...hmmm, I best be investing in some and taking care of my blues for blue bottles. I do hope you have a great holiday weekend in spite of a sick child...wash your hands and don't rub that eye! Hope all are better soon! Best, Vicki
