Happy Halloween

I just had to buy a Halloween costume for Lacey this year. It's her first Halloween with us, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but she's generally a roll-with-the-flow kind of girl, so I had high hopes.

Sheba and Otis both have had costumes in past years and they have never lasted longer than 5 minutes. Otis just lays on his side and Sheba looks totally embarrassed and will not move an inch, so I didn't even make an attempt with them today.

Miss Lacey was fine to start off, although I'm not sure the jockey can see over her massive head.

But once she laid down and started rolling around on her back, trying to chew her jockey's foot off, I ditched that plan. I'm pretty sure that is not allowed at the Kentucky Derby!

So I switched to plan B which was a skull and bones bandanna (again, no one else would wear a bandanna). Two out of three animals sitting down at once, not moving, not sniffing butts and sort of looking in my general direction was the best I could do.

Hope you enjoy your Halloween evening.

I'll be staying home, watching It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and suturing someone's foot.

  4. My pug's name is Otis. Both of my dogs are barking their heads off and running from room to room because we have trick or treaters ringing our door bell. The joys of dog ownership. Cute post, Pam.

  8. Just finished having a minor dog costume malfunction semi emergency here. My daughter, son in law, sister in law and my Buzz Lightyear grandson just left. Fuzzy was wearing his black bat costume. He had been fine with it, since all of the trick or treaters had him preoccupied. Well everyone had gone home, we ran out of candy and turned out the lights. I forgot that Fuzzy still had on his costume. I was sitting in the recliner with the footrest out and Fuzzy was denned up underneath it. Pretty soon I heard him struggling and scratching the floor and breathing hard. I couldn't put the foot rest down because he was under it and wouldn't/couldn't come out. My husband came to the rescue. Fuzzy had the costume pulled up over his eyes and could't see to get out from under the chair. My husband was able to pull the batwings off over Fuzzy's head. I am hoping to be able to get him back into the costume for some pics, but I bet that won't be happening now.Happy Halloween!

  12. I love this post, I wanted to buy something cute for Stella our 1 year old German Shep and my seventeen year old son put his foot down. "Mom, I'm not going to let you do that to Stella, come on." What's with guys and pet costumes anyway? LOL.

  16. Love the Kentucky Derby halloween costume. It was really cute, while it lasted!

Sorry to hear about the sutures required for the jockey's foot, but that's how it goes with dogs, huh?
