I've sort of been in a vintage camping mood lately.
A cross between let's rough it, eat s'mores and sleep in a tent. And let's buy one of those cute little vintage campers, drink wine coolers and glam it up.
Believe it or not, I may just be leaning toward the tent route.
I think it's coming from packing my son off to summer camp last week. It got me all nostalgic for Coleman lanterns and archery and all things plaid.
Here are some of what's been inspiring me on Pinterest. I pinned these and a few more on my Vintage Camping Pinterest board.
I was going to make a joke here about having to run to the bathroom, but I just now realized that it's a shower house, not an outhouse.
Not that I wouldn't go #1 in there, I just wouldn't admit that on my blog!
Are you a vintage camping nut?
Do you prefer a tent or a camper? Or a Hampton Inn?
Joanne Noragon
Been there, done it all, loved it all, and at 71 am pleased to rough it in a Hampton Inn. In the Hamptons would be nice.

I'm totally into the kitschy campy collecting mode right now. Love all your pics. I'm not a tent girl. I'll take knotty pine and a few spider webs.

I used to go camping with my family as a kid and those are some of my best memories. I love all the vintage camping stuff. It was just cool.

I'm a resort girl...but that doesn't stop me from loving all that great old camping stuff...

Absolutely love that first photograph. makes me want to go on a picnic. If I went camping in a tent, once I got down on the ground, at my age I wouldn't be able to get back up. I'd be stuck there. Lived on and off in motels for the past twenty odd years. prefer a cottage by the lake.

I am not a camper--I feel like Motel 6 is close enough--they keep the light on for you 🙂

I have spent so much time tent camping in my life that I have now declared that I need a camper! Maybe I'm being a diva but most likely it's because I want someplace to decorate with all of the cute vintage camping stuff that I have become obsessed with over the last few years. Oh, and have you ever tried to set up a tent after having too many of those aforementioned wine coolers? Fiasco.

I adore vintage camping items. I don't know why, because I'm really not much of a camper. I have several of the pieces you've shown, and I also own an antiques booth where I sell a lot of these items. You found such great examples of this style! - Love it!

Fun kitchy camping collectibles. It makes me want some smores.

Eek! Fun to see my vintage lanterns here -- thank you! You already know I'm a vintage camping nut. I came across a really old backpack the other day and it was so big and heavy even when it was empty -- I may have to stick with vintage car camping...

Love it! Thanks for the memories of camping.

Can I tag along with you? But only if you take the camper with a comfy mattress. I'm not sure I can handle a sleeping bag on the ground! Love this roundup. All the plaid has me swooning!
must love junk
Glamping....maybe. But I love your images! 🙂

I went camping A LOT as a kid. Pretty much every other weekend from spring til late fall. These images are bringing back a lot of memories!

I'm a sucker for all things vintage camping! Love these ideas. And you have a Pinterest board devoted to it? How fun! Following you there now.
And it's tenting all the way for me. 🙂

Omg, love the inspirations! I camped all over the place as a kid and now my partner and I take our 7 year old. Today we scored a sweet 1950 ' s aluminum KampKold cooler, two lanterns and a Cookstove. 🙂
Pam Kessler
The KampKold coolers are NICE! Good score!

I am a tent camper, just started this year at the ripe age of 60! I'm loving it! Definitely glamping and looking for oldies but goodies. Have the Coleman lanterns and ice chest would like to score the water jugs. Good ideas!

I love vintage camping gear! No tents for me! I grew up camping in a 1970s motor home and now my husband and I own a 1956 Aloha canned ham trailer! We would love to use it more 🙂
Pam
Oh, that sounds like Heaven to me! I hope you get to take it out more often this summer 🙂

Oh, I love this collection of vintage camp ideas you put together!! I am in the midst of collecting for a vintage camp themed living/bunk room at our little lakehouse, and seeing these pics made me giddy with excitement! I just picked up a few of these types of items at a flea market, my fav being a colorful striped canvas stool. Thanks for the inspiring round up!

Oh thank you! Have you ever visited Musing By Kim K at http://kenward.blogspot.com/ ? Her blog is mainly about adoption and family life, but she and her husband bought a a-frame cabin last year and she's been decorating it with stuff from estate sales. It's very cute, you should check out some of her photos and you might get some more ideas!

Im a bit in between...more like an Airstream or skoolie kinda camper. Love the pics!
