Sometimes when you are blogging, you tend to go a little overboard in decorating. Fall front porch ideas get a little over the top and the next thing you know you're building a full size replica of Lizzie Borden's parlor on your front porch for Halloween. It's just a hazard of the job.
So in the middle of shopping for a Lizzie period dress, I came to the realization that I just wanted to do a typical non-blogging-Pam front porch. Nothing too over the top and nothing that will make cars passing on the street stop and gawk.
Lizzie with a hatchet would have surely made a few cars stop. Some with lights and sirens on them.
So this is my sweet and simple, laid-back fall porch.
Other than the bowl of apples, damn you Gala apples, the rest of the stuff will sit on my porch until after Thanksgiving.
This humongo pumpkin is my favorite thing on the porch. It has got to be close to 100 pounds.
Normally it would be one of those instance where I would want to try to see how it looks on each side of the door and then move it an inch this way and then an inch that way.
But after my husband and I managed to somehow actually get it up onto the porch and I asked my husband to scooch it over an inch or two and I got the look (i.e. no one is going to get a hernia over this stupid pumpkin), it just stayed where we dropped it.
Yep, looks good there!
Lizzie and her parents will have to wait until next year for their debut.
