So I have been looking for another one ever since. Sure I have seen some at antique stores, but they were never in that great of shape. Some missing some balls. Some missing the wickets. Some with broken mallets.
But good things come to those who wait. I found one in excellent shape for her age!!!
OK, it has a metal cart, rather than the wooden type I had been picturing in my dreams, but I looked past it and went ahead and bought it.
Now I just have to remember how to play the game.

Lucky you! I think the metal cart looks pretty vintage. Google how to play croquet...have fun!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteOh, that's adorable!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I found one a long time ago at a garage sale and it's sadly just sitting in our garage taking up space. I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of yours.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! I'm glad to hear that you got one! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patti, that cart has a great look to it! Have fun:@)
ReplyDeleteLove your "new" croquet set! I especially like the cart. Ours is in a carry-all bag, which I like, but I think I'd like a cart!
ReplyDeleteI found this website that I think you'll enjoy too! Check it out when you have a moment!

I can't even tell you how many memories of my childhood that croquet set brings back. We had one just like it and I was the little sister who was always begging my much older & busier brothers to play croquet! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think it's in great shape too! A little old age gives it a nice vintage look to it. Have fun playing!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good one!! I love croquet, we used to play all the time when we were little.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it!

Oh, its been ages since I've played. How fun!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I haven't played since I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful patina on this set. You really scored this time and I'm glad to hear this one didn't get away.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! And I LOVE the metal cart! It reminds me of one my aunt had years ago when I was little. Enjoy it, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Gloria
It still carries a lot of nostalgia! Andrea @townandprairie
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Your croquet set is just perfect. Have fun making new memories.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fun game. You got a great set.
ReplyDeleteOH she's a beauty...great find!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's nice! My mom has an old set too and when we play we just make up our own rules :)
ReplyDeleteYay for you...I like the metal cart :) Have fun! Laurel
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you found a set. I have to say I'm loving the wire cart - - it's sweet colorful wheel sucked me right in.
ReplyDeleteWe have a family tradition of playing a game or two every fourth of july. It's become very competitive. Plus we change it up every year. This year dad let the grass grow longer then normal then cut farways. It made thing a little more interesting that's for sure.
Yay, you found one. I saw one in the window of an antique store and thought of you but the price was not friendly. The colors are so good on this one and I remember playing but that does in no way indicate my age. ♥O
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find....and in such good condition. My neighbor found and bought one last year but yours is in much better shape. I believe she's missing a few balls. I remember playing that too....:)
ReplyDeleteI spent many youthful hours playing croquet in the backyard. I wish I still had my old set! Your newly found set is awesome...love the metal cart!!!
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a croquet set for years too. I played as a child and loved it. Hope you have many happy games.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have a set like this. Very good find. Enjoy, I know we would.
ReplyDeleteI love croquet. This set is fantastic, Pam.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I remember that set you found and couldn't get to in time! This one was meant to be yours. It's very cute. Enjoy!
