    Accidental Decorating

Published by Pam Kessler | 211 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. -

I didn't want to make yesterday's post about Springfield too long, so I skipped the "Hey, look what I bought" portion.

    But today's another story.

    Hey, look what I bought!

The sap bucket was $5 (dahlia not included). And the metal picnic basket was $15.

Vintage sap bucket setting on the porch with a dahlia flower planted in it.

This pattern of picnic basket is fairly collectible. Or would have been, if it had both of its wooden handles on it.

One of them bit the dust, so it's not really attractive to those picky picnic basket collectors. I, on the other hand, found it be be "well loved".

Purple Dahlia in a vintage sap bucket.

Neither of these items were bought with the intention of them being used here.

I tossed the dahlia in the bucket to lighten the load when removing things from my car that day. Between groceries, Springfield finds and flowers, my hands were full. When I got to the back porch, I dropped the bucket on the porch and laid the picnic tin on the shelf and took the rest of my groceries inside.

I came back outside with my icy cold Coke Zero and said "This doesn't look bad". There they stayed.

    I call it accidental decorating.

Some of my best work happens when I don't use my brain. Not sure what that says about me.

Looks great. Accidental decorating is the best. Often when that happens for me, I end up loving those things the most.

I am finally back around visiting-now that I have a working computer.
I LOVE the way your "finds" are used. That picnic tote is perfect even without the handle. LOVE the color and the bucket makes a perfect "planter". xo Diana

The green goes well with the black wicker and I love anything zinc. Accidental or not, it works.
