    Doggone Good Finds

Published by Pam Kessler | 310 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. -

These little cutie patooties are from a 1937 childrens book that I nabbed at a garage sale recently.

When I have a second, I'll scan the images for you in case someone wants to use them in projects.

Image of two dogs from a children's book.

    Dog Stories children's book.

ETA - I scanned some images and they can be found here - Vintage Dog Printables.

And isn't this little kitten towel cute?

Not sure why it says "glass". Sure the kitten is drying a glass, but it seems a little obtuse to put that on a towel.

Dish towel used to dry glassware.

Makes me wonder what the other towels in the set would have said. Fork? Plate?

I really don't wear aprons, but when I saw this one, I had to buy it.

Vintage half apron with flowers and green trim.

Besides the fact that it was only $1 and in practically pristine condition, it was at a yard sale overseen by a woman who had to have been 90 years old and told stories about everything I looked at. She was adorable.

    Vintage apron.

If only I can be that sharp at that age. If family history is any predictor, I'll be lucky if I can remember to wear pants.

This is probably the least cute thing I found, but who can pass up a wooden box these days? I've seen other people online calling them recipe boxes, but I think it was used in offices to file index cards or something like that.

I may use it to hold some of my ever multiplying supply of charging cords.

    Vintage Weis card box.

I actually surprised myself on Friday. I ran across a huge snowman blow mold at a church yard sale. And I did not buy it!

I know, seems out of character for me. But all I could think of is where I was going to store it for the next six months.

It's a sad day when a girl starts thinking about practical things like that!

Thank goodness you bought that adorable apron! You're going to need it when you're not wearing pants. Your purchases are right up my alley, one and all.

Don't forget to wear your undies.

Towel is cute, but I'd probably never use it for it's purpose of (what everyone said) - drying glasses! Would rather use my raggedy towels for that.

Yup - I agree with you kinda looks like a box that would sit in an office, not one you'd proudly store on your counter top with your top recipes in (sorry if anybody uses one similar for that purpose!).

I think that you need to break your no wearing aprons rule because that is the cutest apron I have EVER seen & it is begging to be worn!!

Good job on walking away from the snowman. I wasn't so self controlled when I found that giant one a few weeks ago.

I bought an old embroidered (w/cups/saucers/flowers)towel that also has CHINA in capital letters on it. I remember we washed glasses 1st, then flatware, then china before dishwasher ownership. Mary

I had to go check to see if my gram's recipe box had been taken to a yard sale--Yours is identical to it!! I also inherited many of her embroidered kitchen linens, including towels, just for glasses. They were ALWAYS washed first, then dried with a 'glasses only' towel to avoid any grease/streaks on the glasses.
I was 12 when my mom got a dishwasher, & for awhile I was amazed that it could wash the glasses first, when everything was in there all together. 😉

Lefting & Kathryn - that makes so much sense! That's one of those thing that never would have occurred to me. I thought it was just some random kitchen term someone embroidered on there 🙂

      Great finds!
I'm not sure if I was supposed to laugh after the pants comment but I did. Love the box-I'm sure it was used for a lot of reasons.

      🙂

You know I filed cards in one of those on my first job. All the information about books we were purchasing for the library was on index cards and the cards each of us was working with came out of the master file and into the "working box" on our desks. 1964.

My grandmother was that fastidious about drying glasses and china. Not my mother. Thank heaven.

LOVE the towel with the kitty. And the apron is sweet. Gorgeous colors.

The towel that says "glass" is used only to dry glasses, and nothing else. My grandmother had special towels for glasses because if you used it on other things it might make streaks on the glasses, and, as the previous commenter said, no lint either!

Hi! I think the word Glass on the towel refers to the fact that it was to be used for drying glasses...it probably doesn't leave any lint on the glasses like some towels would. Anyway, that's my take on it, and it's very cute!!

I love the dog book. I don't wear aprons either but I like them displayed too. If it was closer to Christmas, I probably would have picked up the church sale blow mold!
