    My Little Buddy

Published by Pam Kessler | 209 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. -

I was holding out on you when I showed you my latest thrifty finds.

I thought Buddy deserved his own post.

    See.

    Right there.

It says his name is Buddy.

I didn't find him at a thrift store though, I found him at a little vintage shop not far from here.

One look at him and I knew I had to rescue him and give him a forever home.

    Just look at that face!!!

You know, I started collecting china dogs as a homage to my grandmother. She collected them way back in the day and when she died the collection went to my mother.

And then eventually, part of the pack came to live at my home.

Since then, I have been adding to the collection as a fun way to sort of connect with my grandmother across the years.

But I think I can say that it is no longer just an homage. The little guys have grown on me and I think now it's a full blown love affair in its own right. Bordering on addiction.

Either way. Love affair or addiction. China dogs are in my blood and I think they're here to stay.

Do you have any familial (is that a real word?) collections?

My family collection heritage is dolls...beginning with my grandmother who passed them to my mother who passed them on to all the kids and grandchildren. I am drawn almost involuntarily to those things that my grandmothers cherished. I think that is why I blog...to meet others who feel the same as I do about what is important in life.

I would definitely have to say that my love of vintage Christmas ornaments comes from my grandmother. I have quite a few of hers that I put on my tree every year. When I was younger and not so into the vintage, they would still go up alongside my World Market and Target ornaments. Then I decided to just go whole hog and completely get into the vintage Christmas. I'd say that's a really good familial collection 🙂

Buddy is sweet! He found the perfect home with you.

So sweet! We have a very large collection of those Bluebirds of Happiness that you see on blogs. http://www.pinterest.com/dfh52557/blue-bird-of-happiness-cardinal-of-love-pink-bird-/ We had a few, then we found them all over the MIL's house when we cleaned it out, then we took the ones that my Grandmother had collected and now we have the ones that my husband's Grandmother collected. They are at most every yard sale around here, so we are super picky about the ones we add to the collection. We are hovering at near 100!

I love him! We are a family of collectors so there are many being passed down and will be many in the years to follow. I promised my sons I wouldn't leave them with my vintage linens! LOL

I do not have a collections of involving animals.....but if I did, it would be sheep. I love the idea that God is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. But doggies....they are precious also. I would have a collection of breathing ones if my hubs would let me.....but Bentley Boy is my only one!
