    Toolbox Planter

Published by Pam Kessler | 159 words. · About 1 minute to read this article. -

A few weeks ago I showed you the galvanized toolbox that I picked up at a garage sale

that I turned into a planter.

So I had to show you an update on the impatiens. We bloggers just love to show updates!

They went through a very boring phase where they grew, but had no flowers. But finally they are looking lush and bushy.

Problem is that I am just about ready to start decorating for fall, so I will probably trade them out for mums pretty soon. Neon pink just doesn't say fall to me.

In this part of the country, impatiens and other summer plants can live well into October. So it's always a huge gut-wrenching dilemma for me as to when to go ahead and throw out the summer bloomers.

Do you have this problem too? Or do I have to be gut-less and just yank those suckers out of there?

That sure is a cute idea Pam! Mums will look wonderful, however you can mix them up too, instead or replanting the entire box. Have a good day.

I say, Keep your impatiens. You might be surprised once you start fall decorating, the impatiens could be a little pop of color against all the orange from pumpkins!? Looking forward to seeing your fall decorating!

Love that toolbox turned into a planter. I am gutless too and leave my summer bloomers bloom for all they are worth! xo Diana

I love the tool box planter, I have one myself with a peach color carpet rose, as far as the yearning for fall......color, I would leave the pink till the weather makes me remove them. Hugs Mary

The toolbox makes a great planter for your impatiens. They really thrived!!
I would keep them as long as you could. You should just go shopping at more garage sales and find a different container for the mums (I'm always looking for an excuse to shop).

Oh it hurts to pull them up...I've just accepted the fact that the seasons have changed...Fall for me
(Texas Coast) doesn't start until Nov 1...Winter, maybe mid Jan...Kinda takes the fun out of fall decorating when it's still a 100 degrees outside. Love your toolbox...

I just bought some mums to do the exact same thing. I'm going to relocate some pink flowers to a different part of the yard. A few of them will have funerals.

Relocate the impatiens and put your fall colors where you'll see them most. At this point in summer I'd just like to have some live flowers to worry about:@)

I would hang on to them. They look too pretty to toss just yet! But I do know what you mean about wanting some Fall colors.

Living in the desert, these are just about the only thing I can keep blooming during summer, so I cherish them. We won't have cooler weather until the middle of Oct. so I am not good at yanking things out. If you want the fall color, I say go for it and enjoy. Hugs, Marty

Beautiful Pam. I would leave them but then again I do understand the yearning for Fall color. I have been away from the hydrangeas I am rooting and am anxious for them.

Great use for the tool box...the impatiens are beautiful. I don't dump them until they get frost-bitten...
      Have a wonderful weekend, Pam!
