    Vintage Blue Glassware

Published by Pam Kessler | 280 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. -

Since the day I moved into this house I have wanted to do something decorative with this windowsill above the bathtub.

Our cat Otis used to sit in this window, so I never put anything in it before now. But he's getting older and hasn't jumped in this window for quite a while, so I thought it was safe to finally stick something up there.

It was just shouting out for some bright glass items.

This is a pressed glass milk or juice pitcher.

    And two fairly similar vases.

A Reese Chemical Company bottle that says for external use only and to use 4 times a day. But I don't see where it tells you what the medicine was.

    A Wyeth bottle with the

    eyewash stopper attached.

A small bottle and two more vases.

Two Hazel Atlas Chevron pattern beauties. I assume this smaller one is a creamer,

but not sure what the larger one would be. Milk pitcher maybe? Juice?

Oh, and I was dead wrong about the cat. As soon as he saw me fussing around up there he decided that he wanted to claim it again.

Picture a cat jumping toward the window only to realize mid-way through said jump that there was no room to land. Thus having to contort his body in an unnatural manor and land in the bathtub. Luckily it was not filled with water.

So my blue glass arrangement lasted about ten minutes before I had to move it for its own safety. Now it's back to being a cat shelf. Was pretty while it lasted.

Does anyone else have that problem - you have to decorate your house around your animals?

I used to have to decorate around my cats when they were still living. I loved the look of the blue glass in that window but I guess you will just have to wait till the time is right!~Patti

Pam~ Do kids count? lol I would love to have beautiful pieces of glass set out but am certain that my children would find a way to knock something down and break it, thus making me sad and angry with myself for even putting it out. So I have not ever dared... maybe one day when I don't have children living with me...

I love the vintage blue glass as well. It is stunning. I also love deep burgundy glass, so pretty. 🙂

You certainly have some great vintage blue glassware. I have one or two items like them. They look very nice on the window sill, with the light coming through.

LOL, well, it was very pretty while it lasted. Your cat sounds very considerate so I am glad that you made it a cat perch again. I love animals and decorating so I have all my animals outside and use depression glass in my windows instead of curtains - best of both worlds for me. :)I'm not suggesting you make your indoor cat an outdoor cat because that would be cruel.

These blue bottles are beautiful Pam! What treasures you find! They look so great here!
Yes I have always had to decorate around my pets. I used to have 3 cats and 1 dog now down to just the 1 cat and dog. This cat is 15 but still likes to go in high places.
I once made a lovely cake for my hubby and put it on top of the fridge while i went to work. I thought it was safe up there. When I came home there were tiny paw prints across the cake!!!

Yes! Except I have dogs who seem to bring lots of dirt with them! But a house just wouldn't be a home without beloved pets, so it's all worth it!

Pam that first photo is AMAZING! Love all that blue and then the blurry tree in the background--very nice! Your glass looks beautiful there but Otis is cute too! I most definitely have to decorate around my dogs--they are "retrievers" after all! Thanks for linking to my Share the Love link party!

With four cats and two dogs, it's always a thought process on how can they mess this up. All of you blue pieces looked wonderful on the window sill, so sorry you had to pack them away so soon. I have most of my things either really high or in cabinets behind glass doors.
Do you have problems decorating with baskets? I sure do- get soemthing set up nice and cute and then someone's sleeping in it!
      Have a great day!

The cobalt looked so nice on that window ledge...but I know that the kitty rules, at least in our house they do!

Oh my goodness that is so funny. That would be my luck when trying to change things in my home. She needs to find her another place because that blue glass looked beautiful in that window. Isn't it funny how we accommodate our homes for our pets? ~~Sherry~~

The cobalt blue is beautiful, but so is your cat!!! There's a special place in my heart for cats, but I do love those Hazel Atlas Chevron pieces!!!

How funny...and the glass looked so pretty up there. It would of been great with the sun shining through it! My cats..they won't stay of the dining room table! It screams for a beautiful floral centerpiece but if I go to the garden and gather one they have it dismantled by the end of the day. So my flowers go places where they don't go. But I love them!
