Black, Orange and Spooky For Halloween Decor

Published by Pam Kessler | 341 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. -

I love me some black and orange this time of year. Black and orange and I are joined at the hip. We go together like peas and carrots.

Yessiree Bob, I like that color combo.

Notice how I said this time of year though?

After October 31st, I am pretty much ready to barf at the very sight of any shade of orange and I will ban the color from my house until next October.

Isn't it weird how we love something so much and can't get enough of it and then we kick it to the curb like a used Snickers wrapper.

    I blame it on marketing.

Halloween decor has been in stores since August. It has been shown on blogs since July (you know, that month that has the 4th of July in it).

Why can't we just enjoy the holiday seasons when they are upon us? Why are we rushing into a new season before this one is even close to being done?

(Very cool witch sign that my sister in Oregon made for me)

I've seen blogs highlighting Christmas decorating ideas already (you know who you are, don't duck your heads). I wonder if these people will be sick to death of red and green long before Thanksgiving even gets here.

I sort of have a dusting rule. If your Christmas wreath is going to be up long enough to be dusted, you might be rushing the season.

Just to be fair, I did show a ceramic Christmas tree last week.

To each their own. I am certainly not the blog police.

But why not try enjoying the holiday season you are in? Stop and smell the roses. Live in the present.

OK, I'm all out of stupid cliches now, but you get the idea.

Anywho, I need to get off the computer and go enjoy my orange and black, before I start work on my Easter baskets tonight.

What did I zoom in on? The adorable rat witch! Hehehe. I love it! Did you dress her? I bought one of these for my daughter a few years ago, but it wasn't dressed as a cute little witch.

I get tired of Christmas decor the day after Christmas. Unfortunately our family celebration won't be held until mid-January again, so I'll be vacuuming the tree. :@

Love it with the typewriter. I almost OD'd on antique stores today. Saw many vintage typewriters but you were ahead of that curve. I love orange and white and black. I have tired of mine and it's gone already. My attention span is not long.

This sure put a smile on my face for two reasons. #1 I love your vignette, that crow is perfect perched on the typewriter. #2 I hear ya and couldn't agree more. I was going to wait until after Thanksgiving to bring out the Easter stuff though:-)

Love your Halloween decor. Nice typewriter. I thought that the little witch mouse/rat was adorable. My high school colors were orange and black. Ok for Halloween, but not so much the rest of the year. I'm not liking seeing anything Christmas yet, and I make Santas. That could be a problem, but isn't. I always like to fully enjoy the season that we are in, and "Fall-O-Ween" has much to enjoy.

Everyone loves a pumpkin, so we get suckered in. I myself am re-evaluating much of my decor and pitchin' things that I do not truly love. I've decided that if it's not vintage, handed down from my grandma,or something so beautiful and unique that I can't part with it, it's gone. I truly love the more natural fall decor anyway. No creepy bloody skeletons and ghouls for me! I'll take pumpkins and cornstalks anyday, with a bit of antique whimsy. At this point, though, my dining table is so littered with bills and kids' papers, it was no use even trying to make the table pretty this Halloween. I really let myself go in the decor regard this fall!

Love the old black typewriter in your Halloween vignette. I had enough orange back in the 1970's. But red, I just love so look for some Christmas crafts coming next week!

Pam I love this post. Everything about it, from the text to the photos. Funny line about dusting the christmas wreath. And yes, I agree we need to slow down and enjoy each season fully.

What a fun display. The black and orange reminds me: When we first moved to our town 18 years ago, I was in a Hallmark store in May. There were tons of black and orange party things and decorations. What's up with this? I thought. Why are they selling Halloween goods now? School colors for graduation parties! It took me quite a while to accept black and orange as school colors and not strictly Halloween.

Orange and I have pretty much the same relationship. I can't stand it the rest of the year, but for october I like it.

Love your display and all your vintage pretties. The sign from your sister is amazing!

Have fun with your Easter Baskets!! LOL

I love the old typewriter and raven! Edgar Allan Poe is great to remember at Halloween! I wish I had not donated my old typewriter. Love the colors when it comes to pumpkins and candy corn!

I think it all has to making money. I understand craft stores having it early because ppl are making items for bazaar etc but having Halloween Thanksgiving and Christmas out all at one time is just silly.
