    Ohio Barn Sale

Published by Pam Kessler | 177 words. · About 1 minute to read this article. -

Went to a fantabulous barn sale on Friday.

If you follow me on Instagram you've probably already seen these photos, but I wanted to share them with all the non-Instagramers out there too.

Rustic red farm table with vintage Coca-cola crate, Ball mason jars and a wooden washboard.

It was put on by the girl I had bought a scrumptious turquoise ice cream churn from at the Springfield show last year.

    Vintage red tricycle.

I didn't really know what to expect, but this barn sale was so much more full of awesomeness that I had imagined.

    Red farmhouse cabinet.

Lots of eye candy, lots of great displays and lots of farm ambiance (which I forgot to take photos of).

Vintage Coca-cola sign and American flag.

Do you ever see something in a photo that you didn't see when you were there?

Vintage kitchen scales and aluminum canister set sitting on a red hutch.

Metal kitchen canisters, why were you hiding from me?

    Vintage Royal typewriter.

There is something in one of these photos that ended up coming home with me. Any guesses?

You are disqualified if you guess the kitchen canisters. Because, come on people, that means you didn't read every single word I wrote.

And I don't write this witty and entertaining stuff for my health, you know.

You find the best sales. I can't imagine how you came home with one thing, b/c I'm pretty sure I'd have brought home something from every picture and then some... if I could afford it. I'm betting you came home with that beautiful typewriter.

I would have been tempted to bring it all home. But Im thinking you either got that typewriter, the washboard, or the wooden toolbox.

I would have been tempted to bring it all home. Is that typewriter living with you now?

No clue what you bought. I would have gone for the lemon chair or red cabinet.

THIS is why I miss my childhood state so much.
You cant find this in Illinois.
      Love love love.

At my grandma's house a case of Coke was always on the basement steps. The case was made of wood, like in your first picture, and the Cokes were that small size, I think five or six ounces. I saw the "Buy the Case" sign in a picture; had no idea Coke was marketed that way back in the '40's and '50's.

ha - my mom had a metal canister set just like that when I was growing up. Who am I kidding? She probably still has them stashed away somewhere! LOL

I would have had to buy that cake carrier in the 3rd picture, way at the top. I hope you came home with that tricycle too! I wouldn't have been able to walk away from that either.

@SusieQ - I have no idea about the holes, but they might be for air circulation???

That's funny about the wash board. I cannot imagine how hard it was for someone to do laundry when you had to use one of those. My clothes would be filthy because that is just too much work.

I'm putting my money on the typewriter, since I DO read all your words and you have confessed to a typewriter fetish, but there are many items that I could imagine you bringing home.
The wash board makes me smile because it reminds me of when I asked my Nuni for hers, to hang on my wall. She grew up in Sicily, carrying water to heat and then use to scrub, by hand, washing clothing for 6 children in America. She ADORED her modern washing machine and couldn't understand why her crazy, American grand-daughter would want to have that old scrubber. To her, it just meant hard work. My request made her laugh and I cherish her scrubber.
Tell me, in the 4th picture down, are those openings in the barn so birds can enter? Such a city girl, I know...

Please, please tell me you rode home on that tricycle with the killer front fender and two worn wheels.....with the red wall cupboard strapped to your back....and an enamel bowl as a helmet!

Is my prize for the correct guess the red farm table? I'm coming with you next year.
