I love vintage medical cabinets. They can be used for so many different things in the house including bathroom storage,
and even as jewelry storage.
So when I was out garage sale shopping a few weeks ago, I got all excited when I saw a metal cabinet with sexy legs. I was totally overlooking the fact that it did not have glass doors, which to me are a hallmark of a medical cabinet.
I'll wait while you scroll back up to the other cabinets and back down to this one . . .
Are you back?
Not the same, right? The glass really makes a difference.
Maybe it's just an old bathroom cabinet. Oh, and the yellow on the bottom shelves is rust, not "bathroom-related liquids". Just thought I'd clarify that in case you were wondering.
My husband actually thinks it's just a run of the mill garage cabinet, but I think the legs
and the latch are sort of special and give it a vintage feel.
This insignia on the doors sort of shouts older cabinet to me too. BTW, I really can't get Maxi-Pads out of my mind when I look at this though. Anyone else have that thought pop into their mind when looking at this decal? Anyone?
I've tried to find another similar cabinet online and haven't had any luck. Does it shout cool vintage metal cabinet which may or may not have been used in a medical office to you or do you agree with the hubby and think I should just sit it in the garage and put paint cans in it?

I just bought the same exact cabinet minus the maxi pad handle! Mine has handles on each door. Was looking for a good idea as how to paint it. Its going in bathroom for storage. Lobe to share a photo if you'd like one.

I am looking to buy a cabinet like the Piewacket. I want it to go in my bathroom with my vintage kitchen sink with a drain board. Can you guide me in the right direction to find one of these cabinets?

I love medical cabinets! I actually owned the mate to Piewacket's medical cabinet that you've featured. They came from an OB/GYN in Mississippi (I think it was). I just sent it to auction last month - just couldn't make that 1940's green work anywhere in my home. I've also owned some of the metal cabinets similar to your find. From my research, they are just fancy(ier) storage cabinets not related to medical. But aren't they awesome?

Love these so much - I found a whole set of medical cabinets at an estate sale - but alas, out of my price range! Great score!!
Do not put that in the garage - maybe remove the doors (love the legs)!

A Prairie Cottage
A vintage pantry cabinet, I've had several over the years and sold all but the turquoise one in my garage that we use for auto products. I've never paid more than a dollar or two. They are kind of tippy if you get much in them so I screwed the back of the cabinet into the garage wall. Works great!

Pam that is a fabulous cabinet no matter what it was used for! What a great find. Thanx for joining the party!

It's great and it's history is whatever you want it to be. I bought a green medical cabinet yesterday. It does not go with anything I already have and I have no clue where it will go, but I love it.
Sam I Am......
I know...I love those cabinets but even without the glass that is too nice to put in the garage!

I think it was made for the bathroom. Metal could be washed and would have been less likely to hold germs. It wasn't supposed to be used in the garage- those were wood.
It could have also been used in the kitchen or basement to put you canned goods and jars.
Good little pantry piece.
It is wider than a chimney cabinet and I hate maxi pads! Haven't had to use them in years and I don't miss them one bit.

Hi Pam!
Whatever it is it will look fabulous once you get finished with it! Just be careful around any sharp/rusty edges.
That emblem looks a little Art Deco from the 30's... so possible a box of Modess?

Cozy Little House
I like it. I'd bring it in the house or put it on a porch.

I'm sure you can find a use for it in the home. I'm with you, I love the legs! I really love the medicine cabinets with the glass but then I'd have to keep everything neat. Using it in the house gets my vote!
Curtains in My Tree

Cool cabinet and he Maxi-Pad comment just killed me...lol
Robin
Whatever it was used for I say it's a score. I love it. I think you could make it work like the ones with the glass doors if you just left one or both of the doors open.
Laurel@chippingwithcharm
I think it would very cool in your home...for whatever...definitely don't "hide" it in the garage 🙂 Laurel

I agree with Ann. I think that is a vintage kitchen pantry cabinet. That's the sort of cabinet I'm always looking for. When I find them, I paint them and display vintage kitchen items in them at my booth. The cabinets always sell quickly. I wish I had seen it first!!!
