Jolly front porch Christmas decorations that combine traditional and vintage Christmas decor for a holiday porch the neighborhood will be talking about.
Today is one of my favorite days of the year. Christmas Porch Day.
Where a group of us holiday porch nuts get together and show you what we've been up to outside the house.
I'll show you my porch first and then you can grab a cup of hot cocoa and go visit the other porch-obsessed blogs (there's links down toward the bottom of this post).
This year my porch decor started when I spotted this adorable light up reindeer at a local shop.
I HAD TO HAVE HIM.
I think he may have been part of a store display and may have gotten separated from his other reindeer friends and Santa at some point.
He seemed so sad at the store, so I invited him to come home with me until we can reunite him with his peeps.
And then of course I wanted to do a holiday porch pot again this year.
You can see how I made it along with a supplies list, tutorial and video on my How To Make Outdoor Christmas Planters HERE.
For some of the small details, I tied some door charms to my black rocking chairs,
added some pinecones to a vintage coal bucket thingie I found at a barn sale this summer,
and since it wouldn't be Christmas without a Thermos, I added some faux greenery in one side of this plaid Thermos picnic set.
This is the one I found this summer at the super-cheap antique mall. It had never been used (before now) and was still in the original packaging.
That's all folks. I could have crammed more onto the porch, but this year it's all about Rodney.
Rodney The Reindeer that is.
Oh, wait. Did I tell you he lights up!!!
Not the best photo, because who the heck takes photos in their jammies at night in 30 degree weather, but he is rather fetching all lit up!
I'm sure Santa will see him and run right back to pick him up.

Although some of the stuff I use on my porch was bought locally from small Mom and Pop type shops, you can find similar things online. Oh, except for Rodney The Reindeer. I believe he is one of a kind (except for his missing friends and who knows where they ran off to).

Rodney is adorable! I know you did a happy dance when you found him!
Your porch looks so inviting and of course I love its vintage charm. That thermos set is amazing and I love the idea of using an ash bucket as decor. Yours looks great painted green with pine cones inside. I look forward to seeing more of your Christmas decor.

Your little reindeer is adorable, but, you must hide that cord! If you would secure it to his belly and run it down his extended hind leg, then you could tuck it into the trim around your door and run it down to the outlet. As it is now the cord hanging down distracts from how adorable he is. Can't wait to see a picture with the cord hidden.

THAT DEER IS AWESOME! I love him so much! I would love to see a pic of him lit up at night.

I'm in love with Rodney! I think you're right - he does look like he might have been part of a display at some point. How cool that he still lights up! Can't wait to see the rest of your Christmas decor!

I'm in love with Rodney. Of course, he had to come home with you. No way could you have left him behind. I love everything about your porch; I've pinned a lot of ideas to use on my next time around. Love the greenery on the rocker. Brilliant! Thanks so much for being part of the porch tour.

Pam, I looked at all those thumbnails ahead of time trying to decide which one was yours, but I gave up. Your porch is adorable & I love Rodney! He looks vintage, so that makes him even more adorable.

I do love Rodney and totally understand the frantic drive back to rescue him!
Christine
Love the porch Pam. Rodney is happy to be adopted into your home, even if it is just your porch. Be forwarned though, the day will come when he becomes a teenager and wants you to only call him Rod.... and he'll be out late playing those reindeer games!

I liked the screen but I REALLY like things that light up and he's cute to boot (not kick) LOL

I almost have my Christmas front porch done! I swear you and I must be on the same wave length, as we have a lot of the same features!

Pam, that adorable reindeer! No doubt you had to have him! And the plaid is so traditional, it works perfectly with vintage Rodney. And love your planters...think I'll be doing something similar with my window boxes. Thanks for the inspiration my friend.
