    Old Thrifty Finds

Published by Pam Kessler | 319 words. · About 2 minutes to read this article. - 22 Comments

Can you believe that I didn't get to do any garage sale shopping this weekend at all! With my son being out of school for the summer, I'm not as free to dig around in thrift stores and wander around garage sales as I used to be.

He doesn't share my cheap gene, so he finds nothing fun about the thrifting scene.

But I did find some items that I bought in May that I never got around to posting about. I got all these items at the same house where I bought my vintage cabinet at last year.

    Flea market shopping cart.

If you've read my blog for very long, you know how much I like my silver, so it should be no surprise that I snatched up this box of silverplated silverware. Three different patterns, but they will be perfect for a project I have in mind. Plus for a whopping $3.00, I couldn't just leave them at the garage sale.

    Box of old silverware.

    This bowl was $1.00.

At the time I had no idea what I was going to use the chippy little milking stool for, but I've since put it on the hot tub deck to rest legal beverages on while scalding your body. I think it was $1.00 also.

    Wooden farmhouse stool.

This enamelware pot was 50 cents and was purchased to be a planter. When I bought it, I could have sworn it was white though. It must have changed colors on the van ride home. Would this be considered the infamous 1970's Harvest Gold?

And this is where I purchased the shopping cart that I took to the Springfield Antique Show and Flea Market in May. It did come in pretty handy and it was only a couple of bucks.

    Shopping cart.

So that's all for my unshown, but previously bought, garage sale finds. I'm hoping to get out to some sales later this week, so I can get my garage sale fix on.

If I miss a yard sale weekend, I'm feeling anxious all week long. You sure made up for it by refreshing your junking adventure with these fabulous goodies. I would have bought it all!

Love the stool, Pam. I've got my eye out for one to use in our bathroom for the granddaughter. Great cart! How handy you found it before Springfield and now you're set for future fairs! I just ordered a wicker one that I am expecting to arrive this week.

Great finds, Pam! Love that little stool, especially! Sales have been slow around here, but I see three advertising antiques this week...I need to get my fix, too!

Oh Pam, you make me smile. I love the hot tub but not in the summer...just too much for this 'dainty flower'!! However the little stool is adorable. Lots of great finds. Maybe a little shopping this weekend? I always enjoy your finds! Hugs, Linda

OH YES, those are all KEEPERS! LOVE that little milking stool and I would have DEFINITELY brought it home! TOO CUTE!!!
I get SO EXCITED seeing what everyone else is bring home. Treasure hunting is SUCH FUN! Sons just don't understand, although I have seen MY THREE SONS buy fishing tackle and tools at flea markets(that was my escape, hehe).
      Have a fun week,
      Hugs,
      Donna

It's hard to remember that far back, but I'm not sure that pot is quite the same as harvest gold. My aunt had some harvest gold appliances; we were an avocado green family at my house.

Great finds Pam -- I've often said I'd like one of those carts -- we called them *old lady* carts when I was a kid because the older neighborhood ladies would walk to the grocery with them -- NOW I am an old lady and would love one for that same purpose 🙂

      Blessings!

I bought a shopping cart this spring, too. It's hanging out in the garage so I don't have Rachel Ray it when I transport my junk from the garage to the house. Your milk stool is pretty cute and do I see some silver chimes or an outdoor chandy in your creative future?

Oh, boy did I find a great new ice cream maker! But unfortunately not at an estate sale price. Now I've got to cool it for a while. :@

I'd still take a hot tub during those chilly MI nights. Love the stool. You always find the best stuff.

My mom had that same gold enamel pot. As I recall, she used it to make beef stew in.

You found some really great stuff!

I love the wee stool. Now you guys do not have moonshine up there? I want some Ballard outdoor curtains to cover up my useless hot tub. Like that will ever happen.

I love all your old finds there, girl! I have been forcing myself to just keep driving past the sales. I have to get some of this stuff out of here before I bring anything else home. I have so many projects to do right now that it isn't even funny. co Diana

The magical changing color enamelware pot would make such a cute planter, and the stool is such a great size for your hot tube table.
